What to do for 10Mbps-to-100Mbps upgrade

Post by LEE KAI W » Sat, 10 Jan 1998 04:00:00

Hi there,

We have currently changed out ethernet from 10BaseT to 100BaseT.
Are there anything to do for O2 's ethernet interface in order to
operate at 100Mbps ? Is it autosense ? How do I know at what speed
is the interface operating at ?

Thanks in advance.

ifconfig ec0 debug, then check /var/adm/SYSLOG, or you can just check
your bandwidth.  :)  It's autosense, but that's not 100% reliable in
all circumstances.

Just a datapoint - you'll need to strongarm ec0 to do full duplex, as
the default autosense is half.

Depends on the interface and platform, and if you force on the Unix
end, you will want to force on the router end as well.
