SGI World? SGI Week?

Post by Geo » Tue, 01 Feb 2000 04:00:00

Having just gotten my first SGI (02) I need to get up to speed ASAP. In
the Mac world (whence I emigrated) we have Macworld, MacWeek, etc.
What's a good industry rag to keep me up to date on SGI? What's a good
"SGI for Dummies" type book? What are some good vendors for things like
cables, peripherals, RAM, HDs, software, etc.? Yes, I know, I'm reading
the FAQs as fast as I can. Thanks.

1. Can't compile 'Hello World' program with gcc 2.4 on SGI Indigo Extreme

I am trying to use gcc v2.4 to compile this 3-line file:

main()
{
   printf("Hello!\n");

with:

$ gcc test.c

and I get the error:

mips-tfile:/usr/tmp/cca22695.s symbolic header wrong size (0 bytes, should be 96)

Any idea what the configuration problem is? (email responses appreciated)
