Remote backup error

Remote backup error

Post by Edgar Kleindin » Thu, 24 Aug 1995 04:00:00

I am trying to do a remote backup from a challange L (sole) running Irix 5.2
to my Indy (scrod) running Irix 5.3 The script works on other machines.
The error I get is this...

sole: /
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Aug 23 13:22:21 1995
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
DUMP: Dumping /dev/rroot (/) to /dev/tape2 on host scrod
DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
  DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
DUMP: estimated 614368 tape blocks on 0.08 tape(s).
DUMP: ERROR rmtgets: reply unterminated, or too long,
disconnecting from scrod.  /dev/tape2: Error 0
  DUMP: fopen on /dev/tty fails
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.

What does this error mean? A local dump works fine but remote dumps
fail. I need to get this working quick...

/etc/rmt on the server is hosed, or the network is.
