fcntl-setlk errors with new Kernels

Post by Jeff Rosenber » Sat, 04 May 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

Ever since updating from Kernel 1.3.91, when booting the kernel I get
the following error message.

fcntl-setlk() called by process ## with broken flock() emulation.

Does anyone know what this means ???

Happened with kernel 1.3.93, 1.3.95, and 1.3.97.  Everything still
functions normally (network = Token Ring, all daemons up and fuctional
(samba, httpd, etc).

TIA

Update libc to .5.2.18 or .5.3.9. This fixed the probs for me.
Don't forget to upgrade make at the same time.

The answer to your question is located in linux/Documentation/Changes.

To summarize the docs, you have two options:
1) rem out the offending line (linux/fs/locks.c)
2) update your libc to 5.2.18

Someday I will update libc......
