Very Computer

Hi, I'm working with a new-ish Dell Dimension 4400 running RH7.1 with
kernel 2.4.18. This has an integrated SoundMAX sound card (with Analog
Devices chipset), which only gives out a weak signal (nothing like under
Windows). Is this a recognised problem? A web search on google doesn't
show up anything, so I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has come
across this and solved it.
