Under the TueV release of Mosaic (the one that is termified), I can connect
to gopher and ftp sites all day long. However, when I attempt to connect
to a http site, the globe spins and spins, and never connects. The message
at the bottom of the screen says "Making HTTP connection to localhost".
It sits there mindlessly until I cancel the transaction.
The funny thing is, that I had it working the day before... :-)
So, I decided to try to establish a connection with lynx. Same dice. I can
connect to gopher sites all day long, but no http. In fact, trsh et al, work
just fine as well.
Soooo, I fired up txconn, and ran the Mosaic binary from the host side.
Works fine. Anyone have *any* ideas whatsoever? I have tried term 2.04 and
2.3.2, to no avail. I tried to get 2.3.3 from purdue, but the permissions
are set up wrong. Argh!
As I stated before, I had everything working the day before. Then, I started
playing around with netscape, httpd, etc. Never worked right since. I went
through the system and removed all the httpd and netscape stuff, even the
experimental version of Chimera that I had laying around. No dice.
This is driving me crazy. Anyone?
