How to ELM a message from a perl script????????

I'd like to know how to elm a message using a perl script, what I do is
the following but it doesn't work:


I think the mistake is in the last argument becouse it is not an
argument, how can I do it????????

Some code like thos one:

$subject = "test";
$recepient = 'users E-Mail Address';
$tmpfile = 'File to be send';


close(FILE);

open(MAIL,"| mail -s \'$subject\' $recepient");

close (MAIL);
