Multiple Hosts on Multiple NICS...Virtual Machines?

Multiple Hosts on Multiple NICS...Virtual Machines?

Post by Gumb » Tue, 16 Nov 1999 04:00:00

The setting:
I have 3 NICs in my Linux RedHat 6.5 machine, each with 3 diferent IP
addresses and domains.

My question:
Is it possible to have more than one OFFICAL Host Name?
As apposed to the default of one HOST which allows alias names & multiple
host.domains.

A Purpose:
To setup email or user accounts that are specific to the host.domain setup
for each NIC.
In other words, I want to log in on a NIC and have it look like I'm on a
different machine.

Virtual Machines???

Hopefully;

Crack!!!!!
You just hit the sweet spot on that ball.

Exactly what I am hoping to do with Linux.
I sent them email, however, I doubt they'll be eager to give out the
receipie.
I bet they are using some special software.

The very best of luck. If you find out how to do it, I'm sure you'll
make it available, please ;-)

Their system works well enough. Basically all their users get telnet
access and share the programs like sendmail etc. but have their own
config scripts. You can also install your own software.

It's not cheap at $85/month, but a lot cheaper than a permanent
connection to the web (here in the UK anyway).

1. Virtual Host with multiple interfaces machine

I have P133 running FreeBSD 2.2 with Apache 1.1.1 server

The problem is. I want to use Virtual Host directive.
I have CNAME record in my DNS for host grendel.sylaba.poznan.pl
as glos.sylaba.poznan.pl
When I start daemon it tells that
"host has multiple addresses --- you must use one explicitly for use as
a virtual host. Exiting!!!"

Could anyone explain me what does it exactly mean ?

A few days ago everything was OK ;-(
