You would probably have more success by setting up OE as an imap client
and then use the mail folders stored in the user's home directory in
unix mail format. You can then use procmail to sort out the messages
and deliver them to the appropriate mailbox files where the OE client
can find it.
The OE client is then able to move messages between the imap folders and
local folders as needed the normal way by drag and drop.
