Opera 6.0 TP3 for linux & iso-8859-2 encoding

Post by Petr Cizm » Thu, 07 Feb 2002 19:41:10

When I use iso-8859-2 encoding in Opera 6.0 TP3 I get ??? (quwstion
marks) instead of central european characters. I have right fonts and
encoding set.

Somebody wrote that he solved it by upgrading his SuSE linux. I have
Mandrake 8.1.

Does anybody know where's the problem?

1. Does Linux support ISO 8859/x Char Encoding Stds?

Question 1:  Does Linux support the ISO 8859/x (where x=1 to 10) standards
for 8-bit character encoding?  If so, what does one need to do to enable
the use of a different character encoding (i.e. do I need to set an
environment variable to tell the OS that I want to switch from 8859/1 to
8859/6 or what)?

Question 2:  Does Linux support UNICODE?

2. I want to learn UNIX - but for free.

3. Fwd: NLS mappings for iso-8859-* encodings

5. support for iso-8859-2 character set?

6. nfs not working, how do I re-install necessary files?

7. Printing iso-8859-2 text to PostScript via mpage filter

8. Java: How about a real port?

9. ISO-8859-2 undex X

10. ISO-8859-2

11. ISO-8859-2 fonts in KDE

12. iso-8859-2 kbd - LACKS!
