Bug in dynamic linker

Post by Mark J. Tilfo » Fri, 12 Oct 2001 02:29:00

One of my programs gives the error
BUG IN DYNAMIC LINKER ld.so: dl-runtime.c: 61: fixup: Assertion
`((reloc->r_info) & 0xff) == 7' failed!

I had this error in ld.so.1.9.5, and it remained when I upgraded to
ld.so.1.9.9 (which was, as near as I could tell, the most recent version)

1)  Does anybody know what causes this?

2)  Does anybody know how to fix the problem?

3)  If not, does anybody know of a workaround?

Which distribution are you using?

I'm using base Redhat 5.2.

I was wondering because your linker version is quite old, actually.  Red
Hat no longer officially supports any corrections to Red Hat 5.2 either
- so no luck there.

Have you ever considered upgrading to a newer distribution (not
necessarily Red Hat 7.1) but perhaps a glibc 2.0 based system with ld.so.2?
