broken flock()/1.3.95

Gday all,

I have just recompiled my 1.3.95 kernel using gcc 2.7.2, libc 5.3.12 but
still don't appear to have gotten rid of the following message:

fcntl_setlk() called by process 77 with broken flock() emulation

Pray tell, what's the fix?

TIA,
Pat

you can read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes to find out what else
needs to be upgraded..i believe i installed new version of make, libg++,
ld.so, and binutils

Whilst upgrading to libc.so.5.3.12 and libm.so.5.0.9 (kernel 1.3.97)

        I had a similar problem until I:

        1. Linked the libc.so.5 to the new libc.so.5.3.12
        2. Linked the libm.so.5 to the new libm.so.5.0.9
        3. Ran ldconfig
And....
        4. Removed the old libc and libm libraries

Be sure not to do the removin' till you establish the new link!

I think the fix is in the kernel docs
Basically, the quick way is to find the printk("wibble") statement in the
kernel sources (linux/fs/locks.c)  and comment it out ;-)
And recompile, of course.
The slow way is to update to libc 5.2.18, or 5.3.12 if you want to be on the
bleeding edge. The info is in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes

I did the former, as nought else complains.
