I am using kernel 2.2.13 since a long time for embedded systems using
hard disk. Lately I have found some system with the error :

hda : irq time out : status = 0xd0 {busy}
ide0 : unexpected interrupt, status=0xd0, count =1
.....

All the processes previously running are running no more.

When rebooting the system everything is fine again. This appears very
rarely.

Do you know how I can prevent this or at least force a reboot ?

Just an educated guess. Your ide cable is loose of flaky.
