Do you have the 810 kernel module compiled and loaded or 810 support
compiled into the kernel? The modules should be ac97_codec.o and
Have you edited the alsa alias file (on most Linux distros should be
/etc/modules.d/alsa but YMMV) to add the appropriate aliases, which for an
i810 that is the only audio device in the system should normally be "alias
snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0" and "alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0" and then run
update-modules or modules-update (I forget which of those is deprecated
but either should work).
Have you checked the mixer to make sure that the volume is turned up on
the appropriate channels?
