simple- music sound editor to work with rh 7.3

I have a 12 year old son who wants to muck around with putting samples of
different music together.Rap Music sort of thing
Anyone know of something suitable I can download and install on my machine
(pentium 2 400 mhz 128mb ram) running redhat 7,3 ??
something simple to install if such a thing might exist .

1. Aureal sound card doesn't work on RH 7.3??!!

RH7.3.

I recompiled the kernel. (didn't upgrade, still use the default 2.4.18
version). And 'cvs' the driver, follow the instruction, run 'make
install-all'. The error is 'unresolved symbols'. Of course I did
enable sound card support in the new kernel. (Choose 'Y', not 'M')

error is:
mkdir -p /lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/drivers/sound
cp -f au88*.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/drivers/sound
/sbin/depmod -a
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/misc/au8830.o
make: *** [install] Error 1

Also from the command:
#depmod -a
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.18-3custom/misc/au8830.o
