Is there a program that unzip .zip files?  Gzip does not work.

If you can't find this:    /usr/bin/zip
then search for Infozip on the Net.

Use "unzip" to unzip zip files:
    $unzip foobar.zip

There is, and it's called unzip :-) .  The source is distributed from
ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/info-zip/src/ , although all the distributions
I've met provide packages.

Actually, gzip works just fine. It's just that gzip is neither designed
nor intended for unzipping .zip files. (man gzip)

You should have zip and unzip on your system. If not, they are widely
available (such as sunsite, cdrom.com, etc.)

gunzip can only unzip single file zip files.  Get unzip which will handle
multiple file zips (excepted spanned ones).
