log of boot up?

Post by Davidson Highfi » Wed, 11 Jun 1997 04:00:00

I have been getting some errors on my boot up of linux slackware 3.2.0 but they
flash by so quickly that i can barely see them.  is there some way that i can
pause the screen (or something) so that i can have longer than .005 seconds to
read over the error messages? thanks in advance.

Use the command line:

        dmesg |more

to view you startup messages. Also, they are in the /var/log/messages and
/var/log/syslog

Kernel messages can be reviewed by "dmesg" and usully are logged via
syslogd anyhow.

The startup scripts are *scripts*  so you can insert the odd "sleep"
command to slow them down.
