ftpd pid file error message

Post by Frank Fej » Sun, 05 Nov 1995 04:00:00

Hello, I am curious as to what the following warning message means and
how I can fix it:

Nov  4 15:34:24 woodward-52 ftpd[774]: open of pid file failed: No such file or directory

I have run the chkconfig that is built along with the ftpd binary, but
that didn't seem to shed any light on the situation.  Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

check your src/pathnames.h file and make sure the _PATH_PIDNAME(or
something like that) is set to a directory that exits...i think the
default is /usr/local/daemon or similar...
