The system is RH6.1 and attempts to change passwords are not
successfull. They result in neither the old or the new
password working.
The result is the same from both linuxconf and passwd. The
attempted passwd was a combination of letters and numbers.
neither command reported any issue with the password.
passwd -S reports "no passwd set".
