Java JDK 1.2 libs with JDK 1.1 VM - or 1.2 version available?

Post by Paul Kirka » Sat, 07 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Hi--

I am working with the Java JDK 1.2 beta on Windows, but I would like
to move over to develop on Linux.  The 1.2 jdk, as far as I know, is
not available for Linux -- but the source code for the runtime
libraries is.

So does anyone know if a version of JDK 1.2 is available for Linux, or
if someone has compiled the 1.2 libraries to run on the 1.1 vm?

Thanks

Paul

Sun has handed over the required stuff to the Blackdown
porting project and they apparently have it mostly
working already. Check the Java Linux mailing list

web site (http://www.blackdown.org) for more details.

Can't wait myself. Does anyone know if JDK 1.2 for
Linux will include a decent JIT?

Rich.
