Laser Printing problems

: Hello.  I have a brother HL-6 laser printer.  I have followed all the
: directions in the printing HOWTO and can't get the thing to print.  Can't
: get test or postscript to work.  Can anyone out there lend me a hand? :)

Yup.  I've set everything up for laserjet 2p mode (which my Brother hl-645
handles automatically).  I had some problems with lpr, but after taking an
easy way out which was aps version 4.91 (highly recommended) everything
seems to work fine.

Dunno if that is any help.  Above all keep fiddling.  Eventually things will
get interesting, even if they don't work :)

Make sure that your printer has the postscript option enabled. On my
Okidata 410e/ps I had to set the printer on postscript emulation
before I could print postscript. After that you should be able to just
lpr <file.ps> or even cat <file.ps> > /dev/lp* . The latter is
literally copying your postscript file to the printer port. It should know
what to do with it. Thats the reason I got a postscript printer. :-)

I hope this helps.

1. Laser printing problems.

I just got a Samsung QwikLaser 85G laser print. I tried it on a Win95
machine and it works. But when I try it on Linux (Redhat 5.2) nothing
comes out. I have attached the printcap file and when I use lpr or
Netscape to print it goes through the queue and doesn't complain or
print out anything. It is hooked up with a parallel printer cable.

Any one worked with this print or one like it, and can point me in the
right direction.

Thanks,
