XF86 help for Compaq-Oak-Matrox-OTI087 card

Post by r.. » Sun, 01 Oct 1995 04:00:00

I've just installed Slackware 2.3.0 on a Compaq machine, but the
graphics card doesn't seem to be recognised correctly by XFree or
SVGAlib. The card is a PCI Matrox QVision 2000, with 2MB ram.

SuperProbe reports it as an Oak OTI087 with 64k ram, 6 bit DAC.
SVGAlib can't identify the card, even with OAK chipset setting in

XFree3.1.1 can't probe the card to determine the clocks, even
when told that the chipset is OTI087, nor can it correctly determine
the size of the ram on the card.

Is this a problem of the PCI card, or something more sinister...?

Has anyone got this card working with XF86/SVGAlib, and if so,
_please_ send me XF.configs and SVGA.configs...

1. SVGA OAK oti087 - Compaq Deskpro XL / Matrox vision HELP!!

I recently have been trying to port my linux system to an
Compaq Deskpro 560 XL. It nice but I am confused  trying to set up X.

The video is built-in and compaq says its a Matrox Vision 2M.
Superprobe reports it to be an OAK with chipset of oti087.

I guess the question is can I do better than VGA mode with this card?
Has anybody else tried this?

Is there a commercial X that supports it?.

I have read that no Matrox cards are supported. Is this true?

Is this card in the deskpro really a matrox?

Any help is welcome. PLease e-mail if possible.
