mh-6.8.3, xmail

Post by Jim McGra » Sat, 03 Feb 1996 04:00:00

Hi - a couple of questions:

I really want to run xmh but am having trouble building the mh-6.8.3
mh package under Slackware 1.2.1.  Its not very happy being compiled
with GNU make or cc.  Does anyone know how to build this package under
GNU?

Failing that I downloaded xmail but it doesn't have instructions to
run.  Is there a man page around for xmail?

Thanks

Personally, I don't like the mh paradigm, so I don't run it.  Can't help
you with the build problem.  However, you might want to take a look at exmh,
written by Brent Welch.  It's a tcl/tk-based, mime-aware front-end to mh,
that's supposedly pretty damned decent.

xmail comes with a man page.  Did you do a "make install
install.man"?

1. lock-problem with mh-6.8.3

Hallo,

I have compiled mh-6.8.3 for linux 1.99.5 with the libc 35.3.12. But
now I get the message:
inc: unable to lock and fopen /var/spool/mail/gonzo
if I want to read my emails with mhmail or inc.
How can help me? What is the solution for this problem?

ciao stefan
