I had the same problem. I have the new microsoft mouse connected to the ps/2
adapter. Go to /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
You should find a line:
gpm -t ms
or something like that.
Change that to
gpm -t psaux
(i think...type 'man gpm' and find out if this is right).
and reboot.
This will allow you to use the mouse in text mode. Now this is where my
problem comes in. X11 won't run because it says it can't open the mouse
device...because its being used by gpm. So i type a gpm -k to kill the gpm
process. I can then run X11. However, when i get back to text mode,
re-running gpm hangs linux. (i'm using gpm 1.00)
any help out there in netland?
