NEC 210/SB16 SCSI2 Problem

NEC 210/SB16 SCSI2 Problem

Looks like there was a problem with my first post.  To summarize I need to know
how to disable parity checking in the driver for the AHA 1510/1520 series of
SCSI adapters.  I'm using an NEC 210 cdrom and it does not support parity
checking and the SB16-SCSI2 has no jumper means to disable it.  Can anyone
help??

NEC 210/SB16 SCSI2 Problem

Post by James C Crump I » Tue, 13 Sep 1994 10:03:24

Oops there was a problem with my first post.  To recap I have a NEC 210 and
SB16-SCSI2 but unfortunately I can't get Linux to recognize my cdrom.  It
appears that I need to disable parity checking in the driver.  Does anyone
know how to do that?  Linux (Slackware 2.0.0) sees the controller card okay
but the cdrom light just stays on (just as it did under DOS till I disabled
parity checking).  Any help will be appreciated.

1. NEC 210/SB16 SCSI2 Problem

I recently purchased a cdrom with the Slackware release of Linux.  My
problem is that I haven't been able to mount my cdrom.  I have a SB16
with SCSI2.  After reviewing HOWTOs and FAQs I realized that my scsi
controller isn't autodetected properly.  So after bootup I type
aha152x=0x340,11,7,1.  I still get an error when I try to mount the cd
which says "device is not a block device".  After scanning this group
I saw a similar message where someone was told to recompile their
scsi device (scsi.a?) with parity checking turned off.  Is that the
proper solution?  If it is exactly how do I go about it.  Any help
