Hello,
I want to use a SCSI tape drive on a linux box as a backup device. Is
there another backup program instead of the old tar (maybe with X11
interface) with easy handling and possibilities of appending files on
used tape, formating tapes, index tables on tape begining etc?
I hope someone can help me.

go to the linux software map in the www.
Dump ist very fast, but it do not work over net. Taper seams me best for
floppy tapes, but this maybe not the truth. Im using backup-1.03, witch
is a frontend to afio. I works over a network, and its easy to config.

Hi taper users
I'm back and ready to continue developing taper. Slight problem is
that my hard disk crashed : being a good boy, all my stuff was
backed up (funnily enough, using taper!) but what I forgot to
backup was all my mail.
Result is that everyone that I have lost all the useful suggestions
many of you had for taper as well as bug fixes.
I would appreciate it if everyone who has written with suggestions
and/or bug fixes since about Aug/Sep 1996 could send me a brief
reminder. This is especially important if you had a bug fix, and
I implemented the bug fix.
If you are not sure whether the information will be useful, please
send it anyway.
