You need to:
1) Get the system to boot from a resuce or boot disk
2) Remove the reference to the partitions for the UDMA66 from fstab so the
system will not try to access it
2a) Reboot (1st and for most just try to get the system to boot on it's own)
3) Get the 2.2.13 kernel
4) Apply the ide patch from http://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~b6506063/hpt366/
5) Rebuild kernel and follow the steps from above link (NOTE: I didn't do the
make bzlilo, I just did make bzImage and took the resulting kernel and placed
in / updating lilo myself)
6) Re-boot and make sure the kernel works without the additions to fstab
7) Assuming success do an fdisk on /dev/hde and make the partions you want
8) Re-boot to make sure
9) Add the partions to fstab
10) Re-boot
11) Use hdparm to test speed of new UDMA 66
12) Life is good
