linux RedHat 4.2 can't find scsi on boot ??

Post by Dan Sawye » Sat, 25 Oct 1997 04:00:00

Hello,

I am trying to add a SCSI to an existing RedHat 4.2. The controler and
drive work under the same system under DOS, but LINUX does not find
them. Is there a config parameter, etc???

Thanks,

Dan

Could you givve more info about the SCSI card?  Many SCSI cards should be
autodetected, but some drivers may need the IRQ and IO address set in
/etc/conf.modules.

The card is a aha 142x. I have two systems, both with the same card and RedHat
4.2. The systems are connected via ethernet. One system, the one that was the
original on which the initial boot install was done via cdrom over a year ago
works fine. I am now trying to add a cdrom to the second system.

The card is found at bios boot and again during Linux boot. THe device is not
found at LInux boot.

Thanks,

Dan

If I understand this correctly, look at the "working" system in
/etc/conf.modules and there should be line that describes the aha 142x.
If there is, then add that same line to the *other* system's
/etc/conf.modules and reboot. If the options are the same on both cards,
it should work.

Bill
