I have the redhat version 3.0.3 redhat with linux kernel 1.2.13 and I'm
try to get mgetty to run. It is all installed and I have put the proper
line into the inittab I think? But it still won't awnser the phone line.
Can someone help me out a little. I have had uugetty working & do I need
to put in gettydef such as uugetty.ttyS1 in a defualt folder? Or can I
just install mgetty and put a line in inittab and expect it to run? If
so my modem is a Texas Insturement 33.6 fax/data on ttyS1/cua1

mgetty doesn't read uugetty.ttyS1, at least by default.
You can have a config file,
but it should not be necessary --
just the line in inittab should do the trick.
It would have been more to the point to post this line
than to tell about your modem.
Also, who not read the extensive documentation with mgetty?
