Problems with umount when shutting down

Hello all,

I think there is something wrong with my mount, umount commands.
I have
no problems mounting and unmounting devices while working with linux but
when I shut down I get the following message just before the reboot
message:

The error is reproduceable using the 'umount -a' command to
unmount all
devices and it occurs every time I unmount a device (i.e. it is not an
occasional error). Could it be that on some occasin I may have shutdown
without unmounting a device?

Bye
Fernando.
