Lilo - rebuilding after installation

Lilo - rebuilding after installation

Post by Alex Li » Sun, 15 Mar 1998 04:00:00

Linux gurus please help,

This is my first installation of Redhat 5.0 Linux. Everything went fine up
to the point where the Lilo installation is writing to the master boot
record, it just shows up with the message that Lilo is unable to write to
the boot record.

For your info I have 2 hard disks ;-
Primary Master    1.2GB    Linux
Primary Sec        2.1GB    Winduze 95 (FAT32)

The Lilo config portion correctly ident the 2nd hard disk as a Win95 Fat32
drive but yet will refuse to go on properly after that.

So, what I did was to erase the 'dos' label from the entry in the 2nd
partition suggested by Lilo and thus Lilo was able to write to the MBR.
However, I would like to DUAL-BOOT using Lilo.

It all used to work on my previous installation of TurboLinux 1.0 (suppposed
to be RH4.2 compat). Is there a bug with RH5.0 that anyone knows of? Can
anyone suggest how I can rebuild Lilo to boot my 2nd hard disk short of
reinstalling everything?

Regards and thanks in advance

Since I did the Y2K patch for Solaris 2.5 on a Ultra Sparc 1 system,
Informix 7.22 refuses to startup properly.
Anyone experienced a simular problem? Any suggestions?
