VIA VT616 (AC97 Audio chip on the P4PB 400 VIA M/boards) not working

Post by dionysu » Mon, 31 Mar 2003 16:20:19

This chip is meant to work with the via sound driver in the kernel
(versions 2.4.18-14 and -20 anyhow) but doesn't....can anyone verify
whether it does work but just doesn't like my m/board (P4PB-400FL)
or if it is actually broken? Of course, any alternate ideas for getting
this damn sound chip working would be much appreciated. The only drivers
on the via site are really old ;-< )

p.s. the error message I get when trying to insmod is:

via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_mixer_R7afc9d8a
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol unload_uart401_Recfdd9c9
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol ac97_probe_codec_R84601c2b
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol uart401intr_R6391d066
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_dsp_Rcd083b10
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_dsp_R1c67dc17
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol midi_devs_Rb3ae63d0
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_mixer_Rdefbd1ca
via82cxxx_audio.o: unresolved symbol probe_uart401_R63d781ea

Don't know whether that points towards a software or hardware issue,
if anyone is able to help clear that up to that would be much appreciated.

TIA

Onboard sound chips are commonly on the isa bus, so you'll need
to get isapnp things working to detect the sound chip.

1. mail to X.400 address via UUCP->SMTP->X.400

I'm attempting to send email to an X.400 address, using an SMTP->X.400
gateway system we maintain here at BSAN.  I'd like to be able to send
mail to these X.400 address from my UUCP-connected system at home, but
I cannot.

Mail to the X.400 address from my Sun (Solaris 2.1) does work:

... where touch is a LOCAL system.

However, if I send to:

or

... from my Waffle box, I get the following bounce message:

So, apparently I've gotta do something special to make rmail accept this
form of addressing.  Any hints as to what flags I should set in my
sendmail.cf, or otherwise?
