Display Problem...help?!!

Display Problem...help?!!

Post by Kyle J Le » Sun, 16 Feb 1997 04:00:00

Sorry to bother you folks.
Pardon my ignorance...
I finally got my ppp working.
But, when I telnetted to my school server and tried to use emacs, I get
the following error message...
"X server not responding.   Check your DISPLAY environment variable."
What can I do to remedy it?

1. Linux DISPLAY problems - help

My PPP connection workplace lets me do rcp, rsh and etc etc in both
directions. But for some unknown reason to me I can't run something at my
workplace and get the DISPLAY onto my machine, after doing the " xhost + " on
my machine and setting the DISPLAY on the workplace machine to my home machine.
Is the IP gatewaying and forwarding needs to be compiled into the kernel to do
such stuff.

Any pointers or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thank you,
