Problems w/remote X apps. Please help...

I have a small problem. I am trying to run apps residing on my Sun box at
work on my Linux box at home. The sun is running X11R5 on SunOS 4.1.3,
and the Linux box is running X11R6/XFree 3.1.1 on kernel 1.2.13.

The Sun is running xdm with MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE authorization, and although
the Linux box is not running xdm, there is an .Xauthority file for the
account which I use to sign into the Sun.

I establish a ppp session between the machines, and start a telnet
session in an xterm window. When I try to start a session on the Sun,
whether I use rterm -display... or I setenv DISPLAY, I get the following
message:

Xlib: Connection to "spock:0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
ERROR: Can't open display

I verified that the cookies match exactly, and even changed both keys.
I've pored over the man pages, and have not been able to find anything on
this error or how to generate a cookie. If anyone could help me figure
this out, I would be quite grateful...

TIA,
--Brad

Don't know if this will apply to your particular situation, but I accomplish
what your trying to do by the following:

Assume Linux box at home is HOME.NET and SunOS box at work is WORK.COM;
 - After setting up dial-in slip/ppp from HOME.NET, telnet to WORK.COM.
 - On WORK.COM, give "setenv DISPLAY HOME.NET:0" command.
 - On HOME.NET, give "xhost WORK.COM" or "xhost +" command.
 - Now any x-window app you start on WORK.COM should display on HOME.NET.
This is only effective for the current login at WORK.COM, so I have to repeat
it each time I start work.

Not sure if the MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE thing will prevent you from
doing this (in fact I don't know if the systems I'm using have it).
