need help!! how to undo mkfs or fdisk

Post by Heiko Grunwal » Sun, 24 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hi!

Is there an posibility to undo an mkfs- or fdisk-action ???
I wanted to repartiton my system (only one partiton (/dev/hdb1).
So, I have backuped my system on another harddisk (/dev/hda1) and
created a new partiton table on /dev/hdb.
But then, instead of typing mkfs /dev/hdb1, I did mkfs /dev/hda1, so
now all my data are lost (first harddisk is fdisk'd, second mkfs'd)
:-(((((((

PLEASE, can anybody help me !?!?!?

Well done.

You can just write the previous partition information to the
1st disk as fdisk does not overwrite the data areas.
