Hi,
        Can you help me?
        I have read the HOWTOs and man pages, and I can't solve my
problem.
        When I send a print job and the printer is off, it is
despooled, just like it was printed.
        How can I fix it?

No doubt you've gotten an answer in the past week, but one hasn't yet
reached here, so here it is:

The kernel doesn't check that the printer is online when you print to
it unless you use the tunelp -o option to set the 'online heeding'
flag for the device.  You can read about this in the man page for
tunelp(8).

1. Print jobs disappear when network printer is powered off

The most recent lp patch (107115-04/106235-05 released in May/June,
2000) for Sun OS 5.7/5.6 is supposed to have the fix for problem 4263391
"printjobs disappear when network printer is powered off".

We tried the patch but still experienced job loss. The patch did fix
another problem we had which cause lp to core dump.

Has anyone had this problem? Tried the new patch? Any input would be
greatly appreciated.
