rpc.nfsd: nfssvc: Function not implemented

I'm running RH 6.1 and I installed a 2.2.17-14  kernel recently.

Since then I I'm getting theses messages during nfs startup:

Apr  2 13:40:34 host26 nfs: Starting NFS services:  succeeded
Apr  2 13:40:34 host26 nfs: rpc.rquotad startup succeeded
Apr  2 13:40:35 host26 nfs: rpc.mountd startup succeeded
Apr  2 13:40:35 host26 rpc.nfsd: nfssvc: Function not implemented
Apr  2 13:40:35 host26 nfs: rpc.nfsd startup failed

Also, when doing a

/etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs restart

I'm getting:

host16.physik.rwth-aachen.de:/mnt/home/host26: Function not implemented
host14.physik.rwth-aachen.de:/mnt/home/host26: Function not implemented
host12.physik.rwth-aachen.de:/mnt/home/host26: Function not implemented
host11.physik.rwth-aachen.de:/mnt/home/host26: Function not implemented
host05.ph

for every line in /etc/exports.

Something mismatching? libc? kernel utils?

I had exactly the same problem on the same platform. Couldn't find a fix so
I removed the nfs-utils package and installed the nfs-server and
nfs-server-clients packages from contrib.redhat.com. Now nfs works fine.
Hope this helps.

Could you be more precise? Which ones? In which subtree? contrib? redhat?

rpc.nfsd: nfssvc: Function not implemented

I'm running RedHat 6.2. I get this message when using a non-RedHat ditro of
the kernel. When I use a version of the kernel from RedHat (source code
installed from RPM), no problem.

Don't know what the cause is - I only need to use a non-RedHat kernel when I
need my Token Ring card on the laptop (the Madge driver won't work with the
RedHat ones ....)

Recompile your non-red-hat kernel and enable NFS in the kernel
itself. If you don't need NFS, disable it removing the link
in the /etc/rc.d/rc?.d directories.

1. rpc.nfsd - 'nfssvc function not implemented' error

Hi!
I'm running RH7.2 with a kernel 2.4.18 I compiled myself.
I've compiled the kernel with support for nfs (both as module and
compiled into the kernel), but trying to run the nfs daemon (rpc.nfsd)
results in:

nfssvc: function not implemented.

Most other nfs daemons (portmap, rquota etc) work.

Any ideas?
Could it have to do with the fact the kernel is a 'clean' kernel without
any of the RedHat custom patches?

TIA,
Gad
