I thought this wouldnt work.....
This is the only linux-newsgroup available to me, so forgive me
for posting help here :)
PROBLEM:
Im trying to get X running on another server than vga16!
There aint room for much on the screen now...
I'm running Slackware 3.0 with 1.3.20 kernel with X ver 1.2.13
on an ACER p75 PCI.
XF86_Mach64(old) hangs on startup
ramdac unknown
Clockchip: Bedrock
It really hangs - screen locks in some weird modus - and stays there.
XF86_Mach64(E) - the same
So I tried XF86_SVGA(E):
Output:
ATI 264CT graphics controller detected
Chip type 0053 (CT), class 0, revision 0x9.
Sparse I/O base is 0x02ec
ATI Mack64 video adapter detected.
Internal RAMDAC (subtype 0) detected.
Unknown clock generator detected
- there is nothing on the screen,
and clocks=75.0 - just one clock.
After putting in some clocks in XF86Config, there was something on the
screen!!!!!!!!
The upper 1/3 appeared normal, the bottom was random noise...
Black with cute-colored speckles..
There was an obvious banking problem - or something like that,
when pulling down a menu - it appeared in bits and pieces all over the
upper 1/3......
I pulled out the card: here are whats on the parts:
One big chip: ATI Mach 64 215CT22200
Smaller one : PCI Mach64 113-32103-103 (c)1995 (in socket)
Then 2MB of memory.
A jumper, JU7, REL I/O in pos DISABLE
Another , JU4, ENA INT, not set.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SIMILAR EXPERIENCES!!
CAN THIS BE FIXED???
Plz help ......
