just curious... what happens if you do the build of the kernel out of
order?
(i.e. say, typing make bzlilo before make bzImage) I guess it gets
down to the question of what exactly do these commands do in more
detail than it goes into in the HOW-TO. any takers?

in this case, nothing, it just make a Lilo installation instead to create
the simple bzImage.
The problem is if you do a make bzImage without the make dep...
