Info on using HP Scanjet 5 SCSI scanner

Post by Jean-Marc van Leerd » Wed, 12 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

Where can I find information and/or tools that allows me to use my HP
Scanjet 5p SCSI scanner under Linux?

More specific, I would like to scan pictures to Gimp, but my version
(1.0 or something) does not have any 'aquire' option to activate the
scanner like in PhotoShop.

I need info on the scanning itself and possibly setting up my /dev/...
devices. AFAIK the device is recognised just fine on the SCSI bus (cat
/proc/scsi/... reports the scanner correctly, along with my CDRW on
the Adaptec AIC79xx (integrated SCSI adapter on Asus P2-BS Mobo).

TIA

Jean-Marc.
