Sounds like a memory "hole".  Linux will use only contiguous RAM.
Check the chipset parameters in the BIOS setups.

1. Command to show physical memory size in solaris 2.6

usually, in the sparcs, go to   /usr/platform/
then do an ls, and you will recognize the model of your machine, (prolly
sun4u), then cd into there, and cd into the sbin directory

then do

./prtdiag -v   and see all the info you will ever need.

I know prtconf also shows some stuff, but I dunno.
