Macro processor (better than m4 & cpp) wanted

Post by (Wm. Randolph Franklin » Wed, 22 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Can anyone recommend a macro processor to me?  I want to maintain
slightly different versions of files.  I've used m4 and cpp, but
have problems with both.  E.g., cpp doesn't like unbalanced
quotes.

Ideally, I'd also like to embed the output file names in the source
file, which neither m4 nor cpp do.

Thanks.
