kde or gnome startup?

Post by Kirk R. Wyther » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

can someone remind me how to switch your machine's startup, back and
forth between kde and gnome? I start up to gnome right now and I'd like
to try out kde

Thanks,

Kirk

Press the Foot. Select System->Desktop Switcher to go from GNOME to KDE. It is
similar the other way.

Better yet, at least on Red Hat,

echo KDE > /etc/sysconfig/desktop

this gets you the KDE login control -- which allows selection at login.

1. GNOME to KDE startup etc.

I installed RH 7.0 with both GNOME, and KDE. RH setup the
default
startx with gnome, and didn't ask me which I wanted. Does
anyone
know how to either start KDE when startx begins, or failing
that
start KDE without startx?

The next question is related to this, is there a way to
start
the system automatically in the GUI, an analogy would be
autoexec.bat
in DOS.

I'm doing performance testing on an IDE RAID-1 controller
and need to
pop into both GUI's to test software we're writing.
