Can you tell me how can I view JPEGs and GIFs in Linux. I noticed I have

You mean the "xv" package (you're right about the RPM). I don't mean to
pick nits here, but it's entirely possible to look for, find, and install
the XView package (toolkit) and not have it do what Wael wants to do. IIRC
XView is an Open Look-based toolkit.

There are several. I've had some trouble getting them compiled, though...
Currently, I'm using GRAV, which is pretty nice. (It's not quite in all
respects up to the level of QPV, my DOS viewer, but better in some ways.)
