xawtv won't quit the channel sound when exit

I use xawtv on  an Ati Wonder VE using the bttv drivers (compiled as
modules in the kernel)

The problem is when I quit xawtv, the channel sound stills go on ... I
have to manually modprobe -r bttv if I want to the sound to quit.

the xawtv version is  xawtv-3.72 , Debian Sid,  kernel 2.4.18.

here's what I have in my /etc/modutils/actions

post-install bttv modprobe -k tuner
post-remove bttv modprobe -r tuner

Anyone experiences the same thing ?

I'm having the same problem.  I'm willing to bet it's because the ATI VE
version doesn't have a sound chip built in, so there is nothing to
actually control the sound.  The full (stereo) version does have a sound
chip on it, and that one doesn't have that problem.

Right now, I'm unmuting the line-in when I start XawTV (or KWinTV), and
muting it again when I exit.  A PITA I know.  I'm looking to trade it for
one of the older Hauppauge WinTV PCI cards, which don't have this
problem.

I have this script that uses the trick you suggested above
in ~/bin , I have a file called xawtv and have the following in it

#!/bin/sh

1. i can't change channels in xawtv!

I installed mandrake 8 and it installed xawtv with it, but I'm having a
problem changing channels. The first time I loaded it, it started looking
for channels. But when I change a channel, only the number changes. Does
anyone know what's going on here ? Also, I'm not getting any sound. Any help
would be appreciated.
