ANNOUNCEMENT Virtual 2600 v0.80 released
----------------------------------------

Virtual 2600 is a GPLed emulation of the classic Atari 2600 console
running on a X11/SVGAlib/Linux and other *NIX/X11 platforms.

Main changes since v0.70:

+ Now uses Ron Fries TIA sound library for much better sound under Linux
+ More user interfaces/portability including Motif
+ Runs more games

Other features

+ Pure tone sound implementation using NAS.
+ GNU autoconf ./configure style setup.
+ No longer needs the FWF widget set to run.
+ PC Joystick support.
+ Dynamic window resizing under X11.
+ Atari 8k/16k bank switching.
+ Support for proposed Common 2600 file format.
+ Paddle emulation.
+ More speed.

v0.81 will see a DOS release by me as Dan Boris is concentrating on his own

Virtual 2600 is a GPLed emulation of the classic Atari 2600 console
running on a X11/SVGAlib/Linux and other *NIX/X11 platforms.

Notice the move to a proper version number. This is the third beta release.

Changes since beta 2:

+ More speed
+ Better bank switching support. (Parker, CBS, Atari SuperChip added)
+ No longer dies if NAS not present on startup without -S switch
+ Changes to help X11 compiles on various platforms

Other features

+ Pure tone sound implementation using NAS.
