C-ISAM compatible lib?

C-ISAM compatible lib?

Post by Mathias Koerb » Fri, 24 Feb 1995 23:33:34

Hi,

does anyone know of a free (GNU or shareware or real free) implementation
of a C-ISAM (3.1 or higher) compatible library that runs on Linux?

It must have the same calling interface as C-ISAM, same file format
would be nice but is not a must.

regards
Mathias

YES:     D-ISAM fully compatible to C-ISAM. You need no recompile, simply
exchange the lib's. Selled as Source.
DEMO:    ftp.wimsey.com:/pub/linux/d-isam/disam.tgz

C-ISAM compatible lib?

BYTE Designs sells D-ISAM. Tel # (604) 534-0722 (Canada)

Calling interface is identical to C-ISAM.

Source code is available with instructions for compiling on a number of
UNIX variants and DOS.

1. Reading Microfocus COBOL isam files under SCO UNIX using C-ISAM.

I have a C application which needs to access some COBOL isam files.
If  I access these files from the COBOL or C program only, I don't
get any problems, but If they both try and read simultaneously, I get
a problem with record locking. There is also the small problem of
COBOL not adding the .dat extension to its data files.

Can anyone help me resolve this ?.

PS. To cure the .dat extension problem temporarily, I've linked a file
to the original which includes the .dat extension, this seems to work
but it would be great if I can make COBOL add a .dat extension or make
C-ISAM not check for the .dat extension.

PPS. If its impossible to get C-ISAM working with Microfocus COBOL
isam files, are there any other products which will, perhaps theres
a modified version of D-ISAM that might do the job.

PPPS. One last thought, is it possible to link the Microfocus isam
libraries in to a C program.

2. Search system monitor program for OS5

3. Now available: ODBC/SQL for D-ISAM/C-ISAM data files

4. transferring database - byteswap problem

5. ISAM lib needed (call compatible w/SCO's)

6. AIX 3.2.5 / PTF and MISSING Requisites

7. C-ISAM for LINUX

8. Installing Apache w/ssl support

9. C-ISAM unix files thru windows

10. C-ISAM - where can I find info?

11. C-ISAM files

12. C-ISAM Tools
