StarOffice 4.0 and Redhat 5.0I

I am not having any luck installing StarOffice 4.0 on a system running
Redhat 5.0.

Here is what I have tried:

(1) (a) tar -xvf so40sp3_lnx_01_tar.gz
      (b) then run the install file

            This gives syntax error statements

      (c) tried to install libc-5.4.46rh42.i386.rpm

This gives rpm errors, and the readme says not to install on
RH5.0 anyway.

(2)  Followed the instructions at http://www.waldherr.org/soffice
                exept that I used staroffice-wrapper-4.0-8.i386.rpm
(could not find -9 binary rpms)

This fails with the following error messages:

                /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.65961: /untar_staroffice: No such file
or directory
                execution of script failed
                error: staroffice-wrapper-4.0-8.i386.rpm cannot be
installed

I have read of others having exactly the same problems with no
resolution., although others appear to have no trouble with the same
procedures.

go to rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM and download the star-office-wrapper RPM.
It will install your tar file and do everything else necessary to get
Star Office installed.

The URL did have the -9 wrapper rpm, however, it made no difference.

Here are the steps that I took:

(1) Copied staroffice-wrapper-4.0-9.i386.rpm to /tmp

(2) Copied so40sp3_lnx_01_tar.gz to /home/so
        (not enough room in /tmp)

(3) Created link to /home/so/so40sp3_lnx_01_tar.gz in /tmp

(4) cd /tmp

(5) rpm -Uvh staroffice-wrapper-4.0-9.i386.rpm

Received error messages:

/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.65961: /untar_staroffice: No such file or directory
  execution of script failed
  error: staroffice-wrapper-4.0-8.i386.rpm cannot be installed

As far as I can tell I am following the wrapper instructions correctly, but
it still does not work.
