rpm & gnorpm problems

rpm & gnorpm problems

Post by Dean Hal » Mon, 30 Jul 2001 16:05:29

RedHat 6.2 user here.

I just upgraded some various RPMs on my box. In particular, I installed:

- db3-3.1.17-4.6x
- db3-devel-3.1.17-4.6x
- db3-utils-3.1.17-4.6x

(among others) and upgraded to:

- rpm-4.0.2-6x
- gnorpm-0.95.1-5.6x

(among others).

When I try to run gnorpm, this is the message I get:

"gnorpm: error in loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/librpm.so.0: undefined
symbol: fdio"

Also, I'm trying to upgrade my kernel, and when I run the following:

"rpm -ivh kernel-2.2.19-6.2.1.i386.rpm"

I get a segmentation fault.

I can stand not being able to use fancy UI utils like gnorpm, but I have to
be able to use RPM to upgrade packages as needed. Any thoughts on what's
wrong?

Dean.

Try to upgrade gnorpm to the last version which is
gnorpm-0.95.1-6.6x.i386.rpm. This is a fixed version to work with
rpm-4.0.2.

This package is only the kernel. Maybe you want to upgrade some other
kernel related packages also. This is the list of all 6.2 related kernel
updates:

ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-2.2.19-6.2.7.i386.rpm
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-source-2.2.19-6.2.7.i3...
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-headers-2.2.19-6.2.7.i...
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-doc-2.2.19-6.2.7.i386.rpm
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-pcmcia-cs-2.2.19-6.2.7...
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-utils-2.2.19-6.2.7.i38...
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-ibcs-2.2.19-6.2.7.i386...
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-smp-2.2.19-6.2.7.i386.rpm
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/en/os/i386/kernel-BOOT-2.2.19-6.2.7.i386...

But maybe you got a segfault because of some not updated packages related
to rpm-4.0.2. Compare your updated pckages with these:

ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/i386/rpm-4.0.2-6x.i386.rpm
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/i386/rpm-devel-4.0.2-6x.i386.rpm
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/i386/rpm-build-4.0.2-6x.i386.rpm
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/i386/popt-1.6.2-6x.i386.rpm
