Ok, I've installed Linux (Slackware) and played with it some. Where do I
find what applications are available, Free or otherwise? Is there a CD
package with all the applications in the world, where I could test-run
them off CD before installing? Web site?

All the apps in the world would be a LOT of apps... A CD of all the apps is
something I've never seen, though I must admit it would be handy.
sunsite.unc.edu and it's mirrors are where I usually go to get my apps. Hope
you find what you're looking for.

The Infomagic Linux Developers Resource is a 6 CD set, and the latest
set (out in a few weeks) has the 2.0.something kernel, as well as all
of Sunsite, and whatever it mirrors, as regards to Linux. Slackware 3.1
and RedHat 3.0.3 are on it too...maybe Debian, I dunno. There may not be
*all* the apps on it, but 6 CDs full will keep you busy, for a *long* while.
